Polyèdres réguliers and Cylindres amorphes

Distorted basic shapes, labile symmetry, and the unpredictability of the final product

I am interested in the typology of the container, one of humanity’s very first creations. At the same time, I am fascinated by divergence from strictly geometric shapes. During my stay at Sitterwerk, I returned to my series Objets mélancoliques from 2009/2011 and created two new object groups, Polyèdre régulier N° 1 – 2 and Cylindre amorphe N° 1 - 3. With the cylinders, there was already an element of freedom in creating the models, since  the properties of the material used, a type of foam board, had an influence on the final shapes . For these two objects, perfection is subverted by a bronze cast, since color and surface can vary greatly. This is also something they have in common with my Objets mélancoliques.
