Objets trouvés

Transforming the apparently worthless into useful or useless beautiful things

I have always been fascinated by stones with their varied colors and patterns, especially the leftovers from working with stone. I feel driven to distill the unique qualities that are hidden in the sometimes trivial, sometimes bizarre shapes. For a change, I am not designing an object and having it manufactured, but engaging with what I have found on site. For some blocks of stone, a small correction of the form brings about a great change, while in others the bizarre aspects have to be brought to the forefront or the surface needs to be treated in order to underscore its special character. In this way, found objects become pedestals, side tables, or simply small sculptures: resource-efficient upcycling that can be repeated over and over in surprising new ways.
