"Savoir-faire & Laisser-faire," Mark Müller Gallery

Curating an exhibition while presenting a new work of my own

When do artists have to surrender control over their creations? When does the art of craftsmanship become the art of letting go? For this exhibition, I brought together works by painters, ceramicists, designers, and architects that illustrate the transition from "savoir-faire" to "laisser-faire" each in their own way. Material, ways of working, and the process of manufacturing more or less determine the time when a work begins a life of its own. In my Objet noir N°1, it is the moment when light is cast through the perforated surface and generates a moiré pattern that changes depending on perspective.
