“La Confusion des genres” at Mark Müller Gallery

Abolishing borders and generating creative chaos

Art, craftsmanship, design: as curator of the exhibition I wanted to blur the distinctions between these categories and thus allow for a clear perspective on the very different oeuvres of the artists. The wide selection included porcelain containers, textile works, sculptures, assemblages, installations, and geometric-abstract paintings. This resulted in a sensual and humorous confusion of aesthetics and functionality, art and everyday life, for example, when doors or telephone receivers are robbed of their function by their strange distorted shapes. Even my bronze cast Cylindres amorphes took on an ironic undertone in these surroundings.
